I was particularly keen to participate in the project proposed by Riva 1920, both because it aims to re-use a historically and culturally rich material like the Venetian briccola and because it aims to design a new object. Perhaps the part of these briccole that is most evocative is that most ravaged by time and nature. It seemed to me appropriate to design something to take account of this and to use that part of the wood that is not normally used.
