Tarmac is a simple, innovative, and comprehensive modular system, principally characterized by cupboards and chests of drawers (all of which are delivered fully assembled), set on a base which forms a 'roadway' (Tarmac) between pieces. The concept behind this system is to make it possible for a unit to maintain flexibility over time. Each configuration retains the freedom to be modified or moved at any point in time. These highly optimized storage spaces offer just as much storage space as traditional pieces of furniture (sides/shelves/sides) when positioned side by side in easily movable modules. Pieces of furniture with closed fronts (wardrobes) may be created by placing units adjacent to one another or creations can consist of combinations of various elements arranged in an unstructured, airy fashion. Items do not necessarily need to be perfectly preconceived prior to ordering as it is possible to improvise perfectly functioning storage units. Open chests and lateral hanging rails make it possible to make active use of all parts of chests, including sides. The concept of the 'through hanging rail' is particularly attractive : it passes from piece to piece through a metal eyelet that echoes the design of the handles.
