Lukki means “daddy longlegs” in Finnish, which playfully suggests the distinctive look of the Lukki Stool. The frame of the stool is composed of tubular steel, while the seat is formed from pressed birch plywood. The result is a lightweight, versatile, and distinctive piece of furniture. Ilmari Tapiovaara designed the Lukki family for the student dormitories of the Helsinki University of Technology in the 1950s.
